Bushwick Homecomings (2006) is a documentary film which searches for answers to questions about a New York City neighborhood in the midst of rapid change. Bushwick Brooklyn, a neighborhood once synonymous with violence and having the highest poverty rate in Brooklyn in the 1990's*, is now being developed for housing and is seen as an "up and coming" area. The filmmaker questions these changes through the voices of some of Bushwick's residents. In a project inspired by the tragic death of a friend, Bushwick Homecomings touches on themes of gentrification, poverty and hope for the future.
